A Journey into History: An Exploratory Tour Reviving Nablus’s Canaanite and Architectural Heritage
In an effort to strengthen national identity and preserve collective memory, the Community Resource Development Center at the Nablus Municipality, in partnership with the Women’s Corner, organized a tour to explore the neighborhoods of the Old City. The tour was for a group of women entrepreneurs who benefit from the Women’s Corner’s programs and various activities.
Participants wandered through the alleys of the historic city and among its architectural landmarks, which tell the story of Nablus dating back to the Canaanite era; the tour included visits to palaces and courtyards to learn about the unique urban style and social cohesion.
The tour also highlighted the city’s economic and historical fabric through stops in the Yasmina Quarter, the Qaysariya, Bab al-Saha, Sabana Kanaan, and Sheikh Qasim Café, culminating at the successive religious and cultural landmarks of the Great Salahi Mosque and the remains of the Crusader tower.
An ongoing initiative to deepen our connection to our land and our history, rich in resilience and authenticity.
